Colombia For Christ Mission

Colombia For Christ Mission began in January, 1966 when Mark and Barbara Stringer arrived in Bogota, Colombia. Mark was nurtured to faith in Christ with the First Church of Christ (now Journey Christian Church) in Wayne, Nebraska. Mark studied for the ministry at Ozark Bible College, Joplin, Missouri. Mark had already determined to serve as a missionary to Colombia, and that commitment prospered at OBC. A fellow student, Barbara Hillis was likewise drawn to missionary service. Now married, the Stringers, by 1965, were ready to seek financial support to go to Colombia.

Mark was ordained to the ministry by the Journey Christian Church in 1963. Barbara's home church, the Montrose Christian Church, Montrose, Colorado, committed the Stringers to the mission field in October, 1965. The Montrose church has continued as shepherding/sponsoring church since then.

For 37 years, the Stringers have led in evangelistic church planting in Colombia. Ministry began in the rural area of eastern Colombia at Villavicencio. Then Mark envisioned the large cities of the nation as most needful of the Gospel. In succession, they have labored in Bogota, Ibague, and now Medellin.
