WHO WE AREJourney Christian Church (originally First Church of Christ) has a history of stepping out in faith and trusting God to provide the resources needed to do ministry in and around Wayne, America. From starting as a house church in 1926 to building their first building in 1935 to relocating in 1979 and building a new worship center in 2006, the church has shown a commitment to increasing their impact on the community with the Good News of Jesus. In 2006 the church changed its name to Journey Christian Church. The name change reinforces our dedication to our purpose. Each of us is on our own spiritual journey. We are all at different points in that journey. Journey Christian Church is not a destination. It exists to get and keep people going in the right direction, toward a destination with Jesus. On any journey there can be problems and setbacks and it helps to have people traveling with you for support along the way. That is what you will find at Journey Christian Church – a place to connect to God, to each other, and to the world. We invite you to join us on the Journey! WHERE WE ARE GOINGAs we put together plans and drawings for a physical building structure, our vision should continue to be one that focuses on the building of God centered lives. Our vision at Journey Christian Church is not confined to the new structure we are planning to build but extends to Northeast Nebraska and beyond. Imagine a facility where you not only see your friends and neighbors, but a place where you are seeing lives and family trees changed because of the love of Christ. Picture a church that uses its facilities to impact people in new and creative ways. That is our vision at Journey Christian Church and we hope it is your vision as well. This is an exciting time in the history of our church. Many milestones mark the journey thus far and point us to the great adventures that lie ahead. God has put us in this place at this time to help build His kingdom in our community. This building project will open doors and make us available to minister as never before. Envision a space that will provide opportunities for encountering Jesus that previously had been limited or not even possible! HOW WE GET THEREIn order for Journey Christian Church to continue to grow, we must allow room for growth in our existing facilities as well as plan to make room for new growth as God expands His kingdom here in Northeast Nebraska. We must be faithful to use His resources to do whatever is necessary to help build His kingdom. Our church has launched a Capital Stewardship Campaign entitled Building Faith, Shaping Generations to aid us in preparing to do what only God can do. With the construction of a new ministry wing, we will have the space to move forward, impacting our community and the surrounding area with the life-giving, life-transforming message of Jesus Christ. The growth we have been experiencing is not only exciting, but also brings with it new challenges. The total cost of the new facility and remodeling the original building, completely furnished, is 1.5 million dollars. How can you be part of such a phenomenal undertaking?
On Commitment Sunday, May 1, everyone in our church will be given the opportunity to make a three-year commitment over and above what they are currently giving to the operating budget. Plan now to be a part of this Commitment Sunday. Let’s join together in our commitment to sacrificially give toward this exciting vision. Then let’s watch what God will do! | ||||
